Tip - Compare and Merge in Excel

You would have heard about Comparing and Merging of two MS-Word documents, have you tried Compare and Merge for MS-Excel workbooks?

There is no button visible by default on toolbars but for sure Excel has got it, remember it can do anything provided you know the "How" thingy...

Hereunder is the "How" process...
  • Right-click anywhere on Toolbars
  • select "Customize quick access toolbar..."
  • under "Choose commands from..." select "All commands"
  • Scroll down and select "Compare and Merge workbooks..."
  • click on "Add > >" button and press "Ok"
You ll see a Gray colored circle (Disabled) in "Quick access toolbar..."

To Compare and Merge, the workbook should be "Shared" one which makes this Gray colored circle (Disabled) in to green colored one (Enabled)...

Click on the green dot and select the file (Updated one) to be merged into current document.

Voila, all changes are updated instantly...

and I can expect the next question popping up in your mind....

"How to trace which changes were updated on which location called "Track Changes in Excel"???"

for that wait till my next post....
